Nominations/Election of Building Representatives to the CEA Executive Board & Unit Meetings

August 16, 2016

As we approach a new school year it is time to elect representatives fromeach unit to the CEA Executive Board. I want to thank all of our past faculty representatives for their work on behalf of their colleagues. I encourage everyone to get involved and consider serving as a building representative.  There is a $200 stipend to all board members that attend 80% of the Executive Board Meetings and the Building Rep. training. In order for the CEA to effectively represent all teachers, paraprofessionals, clerks, administrators and substitutes, we need your active participation in the election of representatives to the Executive Board.  Attached, is the roles, responsibility and duties of a building representative. Our by-laws state that the election of representatives to the Executive Board for Unit A (Teachers) will be conducted in each of the buildings during the first week of school. Only Unit A (Teacher) members can vote in this election. Each school is entitled to 1 Building Rep. per every 25 Unit A members.  I am requesting all past building representatives or other volunteers to run any necessary elections. Past Building Reps. please identify yourselves at your first staff meetings. All interested candidates should submit their name in their schools for the election.  After the election, please contact the CEA Office with the name(s) of the Unit A Building Representative that have been elected from each building. The bylaws require special meetings to be held for each of the other units regarding the election of their representatives and to discuss general issues of concern. Dates for the already scheduled meetings are below. Please plan on attending and remember we’re only as strong as our members. Unit B (Administrators):  Wednesday, September 7th at 4:15 p.m.-Kennedy Longfellow School Cafeteria Unit C (Clerks):  Wednesday, September 7th at 4:30 p.m.-Kennedy-Longfellow School Cafeteria
